888 Poker Room Review & Rating
Previously known as Pacific Poker, 888 Poker is the flagship poker room of the world’s largest online casino, 888.com. And that means lots of wild casino customers at the poker tables. Combined with big, high-value promotions, that also means a lot of Texas Hold’em players come to 888poker for juicy high-action tables and good bonuses.
Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo are available. Real-money player statistics as of May 2011 show 2000 ring-game players at peak hours and 8000 tournament players at peak hours.
Promotions
The pending bonus is released in $10 increments every 100 bonus points a player earns. Clearing period is 90 days from first deposit.
As of June 2009, 888poker has a brand new rewards program for its players that is one of the most lucrative online. As soon as you become a real-money player, you’re automatically part of the program and your points start building with your first pocket cards.
888poker also offers reload bonuses roughly every other month. The bonuses are usually very good with a 50% deposit match up to $300-$500. Players can also earn a $50 bonus for each referred friend while the referred player receives $25.
Tournaments
Aside from its crazy loose play, 888poker is also known for its Daily Challenge series. Buy-ins range from the $12+$1.20 rebuy ($10k guarantee) on Thursdays to the flagship $75+$5 ($50k guarantee) on Saturdays to the $100+$9 High Rollers event on Tuesdays ($10k guarantee).
All tournaments draw a very solid amount of players – the $30+$3 Deep Stack on Fridays ($15k guarantee, 5,000 starting chips) in particular offers great value and play. Also drawing a lot of traffic are the frequent qualifiers to big live and online poker events like the European Poker Tour, Aussie Millions and Irish Open.
Poker Software and Competition
When multi-tabling, you can decide how you want to arrange the game windows right at the table and switch between tiling and cascading as you wish. In the tournament details there’s also a list of satellite tournaments to that specific event.
888poker has some of the juiciest games online. However, the viewed-flop percentages at $15/$30 tables have dropped to about 65-70% (at best) from a previously whopping 85%.
Thanks to Casino-on-Net’s operations, there are many less-experienced poker players often with a sweet tooth for gambling. At peak hours, you typically find one or two full-ring games (10 players) with a viewed-flop percentage in the 50s or 60s. If you are looking to make a profit, the Omaha Hi-Lo tables are very good as well.
